Florida teens injured at campsite when climbing net collapsed

When you go to a campground, you expect that the equipment on the property will be properly inspected, cared for and maintained. Sadly, there are some incidents in which that isn't the case. Equipment can sometimes fail without any known cause, but in some cases, improper care is to blame. A recent accident at the Teen Missions campground in Florida sent at least a dozen people to the hospital.

The accident happened as several people were climbing up on a rope climbing net to take a picture. Some of them were teens who were participating in an event at the campsite. The rope climbing net the people were on collapsed.

While most of the injuries reported from the collapse were considered minor, one person had to be airlifted. Brevard County Fire Rescue took 11 people with minor injuries to First Cape Canaveral Hospital. Nine of those patients have been released from the hospital, and the rest are expected to be released soon.

Any accident that occurs with multiple injuries is horrible. When some of the injured are teenagers, the difficulty of the situation is compounded. The parents of these teens sent their children to have a day of fun at the campground and then had to deal with the horrible notification that their teens were in a mass casualty accident.

Anyone who has been injured because of an accident that happened in an unsafe environment has the right to seek compensation for costs related to those injuries. Understanding the various claims you can make might help you to decide how to proceed with your case.
