Drunk drivers on the roadways are incredibly dangerous for other drivers on the roads. A recent accident on the Florida Turnpike shows just how dangerous drunk drivers can make a seemingly normal commute. The accident occurred at around 7:30 in the morning when a woman who is said to have a blood-alcohol concentration of .11 percent left the roadway and slammed into a truck that was parked on the shoulder of the roadway. Three men were in that truck.
The incident was all caught on camera by a commuter who was on his way to do a job. The person who was filming the erratic driving of the alleged drunk driver was the one who alerted the Florida Highway Patrol of the woman's unusual driving.
When the woman's vehicle hit the truck on the side of the road, the truck burst into flames. Luckily, the three occupants of that truck were able to get out of it. The man who recorded the incident says they were shaken up and that he doesn't know how the men got out of the vehicle.
The woman was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail on driving under the influence since her BAC was over the legal limit of .08 percent. That fact, however, likely won't help the three men who were in that truck when it was struck by the drunk woman's vehicle.
When a drunk driving accident occurs, people can be seriously injured or killed. The victims of the drunk driving crash have the right to seek compensation for the injuries they suffered. Knowing what to expect and how to make those claims for compensation will likely take some stress out of the situation.
