Driver arrested after hit and run crash

PANAMA CITY BEACH – One person was injured and another arrested after a hit and run Friday night, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Jimmy John Cristo Jr., 52, Panama City Beach, was turning onto Quarts Street from Thomas Drive at about 8:35 p.m. and drove into the path of Joe Landers of Arkansas, FHP said. Landers was ejected from his motorcycle and was taken to Bay Medical with serious injuries.

FHP reported Christo left the scene, but was found after the accident and was arrested on charges of leaving the scene with serious injuries, drug possession and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The FHP report said additional charges are pending.

PANAMA CITY BEACH – A motorcyclist was taken to a local hospital following a hit and run crash Friday at about 8:35 p.m. on Thomas Drive.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol website, the crash was at Thomas Drive at Quarts Street. The road is currently closed, FHP said.

Law enforcement officers are searching for a car, possibly a gold Nissan Maxima, that left the scene.

Authorities are still at the scene and more information will be released when available.
