Many people in Florida have placed an emphasis on staying healthy. With the generally nice weather in the area, many people have chosen outdoor sports like jogging or biking as their preferred exercise routines. For one couple, taking an evening jog ended in tragedy.

The couple was at U.S. 1 and Donald Ross Road when they were struck by a car that might have been attempting to turn right on red at the traffic light. The woman was pinned under the Chevy. Her husband was nearby on the road. A running club was out on an evening workout when the accident occurred. Several of the men lifted the car off the woman while two others moved her out from under it.

Both victims were flown to a West Palm Beach hospital where the woman was listed in critical condition. Although the man talking after the fatal accident and seemed fine to one onlooker, he succumbed to his injuries and died at the hospital.

The man hasn’t been charged with anything and likely won’t be. Police don’t think that drugs or alcohol played a part in the horrific accident. Others people, including one of the runners in the group that pulled the car off the woman, say they have had close calls with vehicles at that intersection. They say it seems like drivers focus on the oncoming traffic without checking the entire surroundings.

Anyone who is injured in an automobile accident caused by someone else might have the right to seek compensation for those injuries. The same might be true for the loved ones of someone killed in a fatal accident. Understanding your responsibilities and rights might help you determine the types of damage claims to make.
