Florida motorcycle rider killed by elderly driver

When the weather is nice, people who own motorcycles might decide to take their bikes out on the roadways. This means that other motorists need to be especially watchful since motorcycle accidents can be so serious. Sadly, Florida recently saw a fatal motorcycle accident.

The accident claimed the life of an 18-year-old man who was wearing a helmet while riding his 2004 Suzuki motorcycle. The man was struck by a 2012 Buick LaCrosse that was driven by a 90-year-old man. The elderly man failed to yield while making a turn onto 106th Street West from Cortez Road. The motorcycle rider was in the outside lane going eastbound on Cortez Road when he was struck on the right side.

The motorcycle rider died on the scene. The 90-year-old driver suffered minor injuries. An 80-year-old passenger in the Buick wasn't hurt in the crash. The highway patrol says that charges are pending in the fatal motorcycle accident.

Anyone who is on the road should make sure that they follow the traffic laws. Failing to follow them can lead to very serious accidents. In this case, the driver of the Buick allegedly didn't yield to the motorcycle rider and struck him, which cost the motorcycle rider his life.

The deceased man's family members might have the right to seek compensation for his death. If they decide to do so, they should make sure they understand their responsibilities and rights during the process. If they are awarded compensation, it might help to ease the financial strain of resulting from his death, such as his final expenses.
