Inexperience often leads to motor vehicle accidents

Florida parents watch their teenagers get drivers' licenses with a mixture of pride, joy and fear. Teens gain a sense of independence, but their inexperience behind the wheel can cause them to make mistakes that lead to motor vehicle accidents and injuries. Some of those injuries can be severe or even deadly.

Fortunately, a teen driver's recent mistake as he drove U.S. 319 did not lead to any fatalities, but it did cause serious injuries to an 11-year-old boy. It was a Thursday at approximately 7 a.m. when a vehicle in front of the teen began slowing in order to make a turn. The teen failed to slow and slammed into the back of that vehicle.

To make matters worse, the impact pushed the turning vehicle into the path of another vehicle, and they collided. Fortunately, other than the boy who suffered serious injuries, no one else was seriously hurt. The driver of the first vehicle and the 16-year-old teenager suffered minor injuries. Reports did not indicate what actions will be taken against the teen, if any.

In the meantime, the injured boy's family may be accumulating a significant amount of medical expenses associated with his injuries in this accident. The family of the seriously injured boy may seek restitution for his injuries through a personal injury claim as many others involved in motor vehicle accidents have done. As would be the case for anyone in this situation, it may be beneficial to seek the advice and assistance of a Florida attorney before embarking on any legal action.
